Dr. Abhin Kumar DPM

Education & Training

Dr. Kumar was raised in Michigan and earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Wayne State University. He went on to attend Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California, where he received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM).
Following podiatry school, he returned home to Michigan to complete his residency at Beaumont Farmington Hills.

Inspiration & Philosophy

Dr. Kumar discovered his passion for podiatry during his final year of undergraduate studies, when a mentor introduced him to the field. He was drawn to podiatry’s unique blend of medicine and surgery, and the opportunity to make an immediate difference in patients’ lives. That same mentor later became his residency director at Beaumont Farmington Hills.

He believes in treating every patient like family – taking the time to listen, educate, and provide options tailored to each person’s unique needs. His approach emphasizes conservative treatment first, with surgery as a last resort. Dr. Kumar is dedicated to ensuring patients fully understand their care plans and feel empowered in their treatment decisions.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Kumar enjoys staying at the forefront of podiatric medicine, especially with advancements in minimally invasive surgery. He values procedures that deliver great results with quicker recovery and less scarring, helping patients return to the activities they love faster.

He also has a special interest in wound care and has authored several published case studies highlighting effective wound care protocols that promote faster healing and improved patient outcomes.
